Henrietta “Hank” Maria (Brand) Donnelly, 98, of North Platte, NE passed away Aug. 8, 2014 at Linden Court.
She was born May 5, 1916 at Dixon, S.D. to Carl and Henrietta (Harms) Brand. Henrietta attended school in and around Silver Creek, NE and graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1934. She attended the School of Commerce in North Platte, and then worked as the deputy register of deeds for Lincoln County for eight years. She also worked for Montgomery Wards and Firestone stores. She was employed by A. Tull Accounting and Auditing and was a cook at Joe’s Supper Club, all in North Platte, NE. Henrietta cooked and managed the Husky Truck Stop in Hershey, NE and while doing that was also the Justice of Peace in Hershey, NE.
She married Robert Maurice Donnelly, July 7, 1944, at Smith Center, KS. They were married 56 years before Roberts’ death on December 4, 2000. They had four children, Larry Brand, Marvin, Maurice and Jean Donnelly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step father, Thomas Smith; four brothers; four sisters and their spouses; her husband, Robert; a son, Maurice; two daughters-in-law, Dorothy Brand and Bridget Donnelly; a great grandson, Bobbie Brand; and a step grandson, Thomas Satterfield.
Henrietta was an active member of the Salvation Army. She was a Sunday School teacher for 34 years and Sunbeam leader for 25 years. She held the position of Assistant and Home League Secretary and was a member of the League of Mercy for 25 years. She also worked in the church office and the Salvation Army Thrift Store. Henrietta spent many hours volunteering for Salvation Army as a bell ringer at Christmas time and helped with the yearly Home League bazaar when she made her famous baked goods, candy and her embroidered tea towels. Henrietta retired from active duty at the Salvation Army in 1986. She was still volunteering right before moving to Linden Court in 2011.
Survivors include her children, Larry Brand of Hickory Ridge, AR, Marvin Donnelly of Hershey and Jean (Gene) Hardy of North Platte; sister-in-law, Herda Brand of Wisner, NE; grandchildren, James Brand of San Diego, CA, Stephen Brand, Rene Nelson both of Clarksville, TN, Brian (Joyce) Brand of Longmont, CO, Kari Donnelly of Colorado Springs, CO, Maurice Donnelly, Jr. of San Antonio, TX, Paul (Sarah) Anderson of Morse Bluff, NE, Travis (Pam) Anderson of North Platte, Nebraska; several great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and their families.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at the North Platte Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
