Lincoln Bridge Provides Links to Famous Nebraskans

pinnacle-bank-arenaLINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The pedestrian bridge linking the Pinnacle Bank Arena to nearby parking lots reminds people they’re in Lincoln and provides links to famous Nebraskans.

The word Lincoln is spelled out in big block letters on both sides of the bridge, which is lit up at night. The two-block-long walkway has 14 aluminum panels on its sides, offering pedestrians a chance to see a collection of virtues and values linked to quotes from famous Americans with Nebraska ties. Among those listed is President Gerald Ford, who was born in Omaha, and billionaire investor Warren Buffett.

The group picking the virtues and quotes made sure there was diversity in the people selected. Copyright issues were checked and permission for use was obtained from various foundations and estates.
