Nebraska Sex Offender Gets 20 Years for Assault of Girl, 6

harold-johnsonBEATRICE, Neb. (AP) — A convicted sex offender has been given 20 more years in prison for sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl in southeast Nebraska.

49-year-old Harold Johnson on Thursday pleaded no contest and was convicted after prosecutors dropped two related charges in Gage County District Court. Court records say the assaults took place in Odell after his release from prison in June 2012.

The girl told her mother and then authorities that Johnson had touched her inappropriately on more than one occasion.

The Nebraska Sex Offender Registry says Johnson was convicted in May 1995 of sexually assaulting a 3-year-old child in Colfax County. Johnson was sentenced to 20 to 30 years in prison.
