LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The state is adding more video cameras to its system along Interstate 80 in Nebraska.
The Roads Department says three will added near York and Grand Island starting the week of Sept. 29. The installation is expected to be finished in November.
The cameras will be placed upstream from existing Dynamic Message System Boards that sit east and west of the York interchange and west of the Grand Island interchange.
The cameras will help monitor traffic and keep watch over road conditions. The cameras will be linked to the department’s Operations Center, accessible through the Nebraska 511 website, http://www.511.nebraska.gov/ .
Minor shoulder closures will be required during the installation project.
