David L Houchin, 69 of North Platte passed away September, 13 2014. He was born on May 4, 1945 to Paul K and Myrtle E (Lantz) Houchin in North Platte where he lived most of his life with the exception of a year or so that he spent living in California with his brother and his parents. He was the youngest of their 5 children. On July 23, 1976 he married Linda Bending of North Platte and they were blessed with a daughter a year later.
David was a carpenter by trade and spent many years working at Sandhills Industries. Later he worked at American Door Company as a skin flipper and after leaving there went into semi retirement and for the past 12 years has been a paper carrier for the North Platte Telegraph.
He enjoyed morning coffee with his brother Henry, walking his dog, listening to music and playing the guitar. He was an avid train collector and spent much of his free time watching westerns especially John Wayne movies.
He is survived by his four legged pal Sammy, his daughter Laura (Mike) Honeywell of Stapleton, five grandchildren Shyanne, Johanna, Alexander, Mikayla and Daniel Honeywell all of Stapleton, his brother Henry (Harvie) Houchin of North Platte, his sister; Pauline (Vernon) Waits of Tryon, Brother-in-law (Steve Weston) of North Platte and Sister-in-law (Kathy Kenton) of Richmond, WA as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends at the apartment complex where he lived.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister (Kathy Weston), a sister-in-law (Mildred Houchin) and a brother (Blaine Kenton).

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Goodwin officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
