OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Police say the owner of a central Omaha jewelry store has died after being shot during a robbery of the shop, located in one of the busiest shopping districts in the city.
Police say in a written release that officers were sent to JR’s Jewelry & Gifts around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday for reports of a shooting. There, they found 71-year-old James Minshall with three gunshot wounds. Minshall was taken to Nebraska Medical Center, where he died.
No arrests have yet been made. Witnesses have said the shooter fled in a gray or silver car.
The jewelry store is located in a strip mall that includes several other stores, directly across the street from Omaha’s massive Nebraska Furniture Mart.
