DALLAS (AP) — The family of a man diagnosed with the first U.S. case of Ebola has again visited him at the hospital but is declining to view him again via video because his condition is too “disturbing.”

Thomas Eric Duncan’s relatives had previously watched him using a video system inside the Dallas hospital where he is being treated. Duncan is sedated.

But when they returned Tuesday with Rev. Jessie Jackson, they decided that enduring such images again would be too painful. Duncan’s nephew Josephus Weeks says, “It didn’t look good.”

Weeks says he and Duncan’s mother were unable to sleep after seeing Duncan’s face over video.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital says Duncan remains in critical condition though he is stable. He is on a breathing machine and receiving kidney dialysis.
