OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska Humane Society says a bat captured in an Omaha home has tested positive for rabies.
A spokesman for the group said Wednesday that it’s Omaha’s first reported rabies case this year involving a bat.
The bat was caught in a towel Friday. Humane society officers then sent the animal to a diagnostic lab in Kansas.
The family in the home has been instructed to contact a physician immediately in case of exposure.
