LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Authorities in Lancaster County say a Nebraska Wesleyan University student has died after he was struck by a car while walking along Interstate 80.
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s office says 22-year-old Maury Lorence, of Doniphan, Nebraska, was walking west of Lincoln shortly after midnight Sunday morning when a vehicle struck him.
Authorities haven’t said why Lorence may have been walking on the interstate at the time. They’d like to talk with anyone who may have seen him.
A sheriff’s office statement says investigators are looking for a vehicle with possible front-end damage and leaking fluid.
Lorence graduated from Doniphan-Trumbull High School. He was a senior at Wesleyan this year majoring in elementary education and a member of the football team.
