LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska athletic director Shawn Eichorst has announced the hiring of David Witty as senior associate athletic director in charge of marketing and communications.

Eichorst said Thursday that Witty was selected after a national search and will begin his duties Nov. 17.

Witty for the last eight years has been vice president and general manager of Husker IMG Sports Marketing. He previously spent more than two decades with the Kansas City Royals in media relations and marketing.

Witty earned his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State and his master’s in sports administration from St. Thomas University in Florida.
