Mary R. Fellows

Mary R. Fellows, 72, of Brady, NE, peacefully passed away October 26, 2014 at Linden Court in North Platte, NE. She was born October 15, 1942 in Lone Rock, AR to Bernard Donald (B.B.) and Lillian Mae Cantrell Blankinship.

Mary grew up in Viola, AR and graduated from Viola High School in 1960. After graduation she moved to Kansas City, MO and worked as a telephone operator. There she met Darrel Fellows who was enlisted in the United States Army. On January 27, 1962 they were married and soon after Darrel’s discharge from the military, they moved to Jerico Springs, MO where the couple bought and worked a farm for a few years. The couple moved back to Kansas City then lived in various other communities until finally settling in Callaway, NE in 1970. There they raised three children into adults then moved to Brady, NE in 1990. In Brady, they owned the Brady Get n Go from 1995 to 2012.

Mary was a loving mother and devoted wife who supported Darrel in all of his endeavors. She worked on the farm, was a police dispatcher, owner of a filling station and eventually joined Darrel as a nation wide truck driver for 16 years. She retired in 2004 and enjoyed watching the wild life around her lake home at Jefferies Lake south of Brady. August was her favorite time of year when the corn and chokecherries were ripe for the picking. She loved to make chokecherry jelly and often traded with neighbors for other home made canning and garden vegetables.

Mary was a member of the Red Hat Society, had a wonderful sense of humor and was a Good Samaritan always taking care of those around her. She will be remembered for her laughter and practical jokes.
