OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A 21-year-old is recovering in the hospital after he was shot in the street in north Omaha.

Police say Denzell Davis told them he was walking toward a home around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday when he heard gunshots and realized he was wounded.

Authorities say Davis was able to walk into CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center for treatment. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Davis’ family members say they’re cooperating with the investigation. A neighbor told Omaha television station WOWT that he heard about eight gunshots.
