COLUMBUS, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska State Patrol says eight people have been taken to the hospital after a five-car pileup near Columbus.
Sgt. Tim Salmen says a crash caused a chain reaction on Sunday evening on Highway 81. He says a car was stopped and waiting to turn when another vehicle rear-ended it. All of the vehicles involved were traveling south.
The injured people were taken to a Columbus hospital. Salmen says their injuries weren’t life threatening.
He says one of the vehicles caught fire after the accident but it was quickly extinguished.
The accident is under investigation.
