SCHUYLER, Neb. (AP) — A Schuyler man whose suicide attempt was interrupted has been charged with trying to kill a woman.
41-year-old Amauri Herrera-Alvarez is charged with attempted murder and use of a weapon. Online court records don’t list the name of his attorney.
The Colfax County Attorney’s office says the incident was discovered around 2:15 a.m. Sunday outside a Schuyler apartment building. Officers say they cut a rope Herrera-Alvarez was using to hang himself from a tree outside the building. Inside the building they found a 34-year-old woman who’d been stabbed. Both were taken to an Omaha hospital for treatment.
Authorities say Herrera-Alvarez and the woman were in a relationship.
