NORTH PLATTE – Run for fun, or race to compete. Either way, The North Platte
Catholic Schools invite you to “Complete, then eat” on Thanksgiving morning. The
Catholic School system will host the 3rd annual Turkey Trot on Thursday, November
27th. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Cody Park concession stand, with the 5K/1-
mile run beginning at 8:30. The Turkey Trot can be run either as an individual 5K or a
Family 1-mile fun run. Entry fee for both the individual 5K and family mile is $25, which
includes a race tee-shirt, drinks, and refreshments. The race is a part of the Platte River
Fitness Series.
Event organizers encourage and invite the entire community to participate and enjoy
some exercise before the annual Thanksgiving feast. Race organizers Ann Marie Blakely,
Renae Brandt, and Marie Brosius say the Turkey Trot is a great way to kick off the
Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family. “What better way to begin Thanksgiving
than with a little fun and exercise?” Proceeds from the Turkey Trot will benefit the St.
Patrick’s High School Activities Association. Sponsors of the event are: Bill Summers
Ford, Blakely Enterprises, Great Western Bank, and Spectrum Quick Copy Center.
Registration forms can be obtained from St. Patrick’s High School (500 S. Silber), the
North Platte Catholic Schools Endowment Office (601 S. Tabor), or the North Platte
Recreation Center (1300 McDonald Rd). Register online at: www.enter2run.com or print
a registration form from the North Platte Catholic Schools Facebook page.
