Montana Fugitive Arrested in Southeast Nebraska

Jail-Bars-and-Cuffs_mediumFAIRBURY, Neb. (AP) — Fairbury police have arrested a man listed by Montana prison authorities as escaped.

Robert Wilson was taken into custody on Sunday morning.

Police say officers checking on a 911 caller found Wilson in the backyard of a residence. He said he hadn’t made the call, but his cellphone showed that the Jefferson County 911 dispatcher had called Wilson’s number.

Officers say they soon learned that Wilson’s tattoos matched those of a man sought by Montana authorities. Officers say they found a steak knife on Wilson when they took him into custody.

Police say a photo and more identification information from Montana authorities confirmed that the officers’ captive was a wanted man.
