Margaret Olive Booth

Margaret Olive Booth, age 95 of North Platte, passed away Wednesday November 26, 2014.

Margaret was born on March 17, 1919 in Amherst, NE to Edwin A. and Gertrude (McComb) Peck.  She grew up in the Callaway and Arnold area, where she attended school. She married Frank Booth on June 13, 1938 in Broken Bow and the couple lived in Gothenburg Anselmo, and Brady,areas.  They moved to North Platte in 1955 where she worked as an assistant lunch counter manager at Woolworths.  They moved to Hershey in 1965 where they owned and operated the Hershey Highway Café.  After they closed the café, she cooked at the Hershey Schools for several years, and then went back to work part time at Woolworths and Super 8, working until she was 88 years old.   She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Eagles. She was awarded Mother of the Year, Hometown Hero and Senior Citizen of the Year Award for the State of Nebraska.  Margaret was known for her excellent cooking, especially her peanut butter cookies and her pumpkin rolls.

Margaret is survived by her children, Sharon (Gene) Kohl of Hershey, Bonnie Preitauer of Cozad, Linda ( Dave O’Neill) Woodward of North Platte, and Lori (Tim) Wilson of Hershey; 14 grandchildren, Terry Booth of North Platte, Cora (Jim) Fox of North Platte, Darrel Booth of Phoenix, AZ, Cindy Booth-Northington of Denver, Jody (Brian) Gosnell of North Platte, Billy (Heather) Preitauer of North Platte, Mike Preitauer of Gothenburg, Tina Preitauer of Panama City, FL, Jeff Woodward of North Platte, Vickie Woodward of North Platte, Charity (Tucker) Sundstrom of North Platte, Steven (Jeanie) Carland of North Platte, Josh (Rachel) Carland of North Platte and Derek Wilson of Grand Island; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; brother Herb (Claudette) Peck of McCook; as well as many other family members and friends.

She was preceded by her parents; husband Frank; son Marvin; siblings Arlie, Bob, Betty Winder, Vera Peck, Johnny and David Peck; granddaughters Kimberly Woodward and Brenda Kolb; grandson Frank Kohl and son-in-laws Loren Carland and Milton Woodward.

Memorials are suggested to the Relay for Life Cancer Walk and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com.  Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday November 29, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Kelo Kaleuati officiating.  Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be fromnoon until 9:00 p.m. Friday November 28, 2014 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
