Saint Mary’s Ends Creighton’s 24-Game Home Streak 71-67, OT

Creighton-Jays-BasketballOMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Aaron Bright scored 19 of his 22 points in the second half and overtime on Saturday, and Saint Mary’s beat Creighton 71-67, ending the Bluejays’ 24-game home winning streak.

Bright made a jumper with 1 minute left in overtime that gave the Gaels a 68-64 lead and 1 of 2 free throws extended the Gaels (6-1) back in front by four with 10 seconds to go.

The Bluejays (8-3) had the fifth-longest home winning streak in the nation with their last home loss to Illinois State 75-72 on Feb. 9, 2013.

Kerry Carter had 19 points, Dane Pineau had 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Brad Waldow finished with 11 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, including two free throws that put the Gaels up 70-64 with 32 seconds left.

Austin Chatman led Creighton with 19 points and Isaiah Zierden added 17 points with four 3-pointers in the second half.
