Omaha Officer Hurt When Firetruck Rams Cruiser

omaha-policeOMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A police officer has suffered minor injuries in a collision with a firetruck on the way to a blaze in northeast Omaha.

Omaha police say the accident occurred a little before 3 a.m. Friday. The Police Department says Officer Anthony Barnes was headed south in his cruiser on North 16th Street and was struck on the driver’s side by the southbound firetruck.

The cruiser was knocked into a parked vehicle and then off the roadway into a couple of fences, stopping in a yard.

Barnes was taken to Nebraska Medical Center for treatment. The Police Department says none of the firefighters on the truck were injured.
