Ice Jam Flooding Reported in Western Nebraska

ice-jam-np-riverNORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) — Minor flooding has been reported because of ice jams on the South Platte and North Platte rivers in western Nebraska.

The National Weather Service flood advisory says the North Platte water has backed up near Lewellen behind an ice jam formed at the inlet of Lake McConaughy.

In addition, a flood advisory is continuing for an area along the South Platte River east of the city of North Platte, near Iron Eagle Golf Course.

Conditions are expected to change as the temperatures rise and clouds clear away.
