Gymnastics Team Member Injured at Nebraska Church College

union-collegeLINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — An acrobatic gymnastics team member has been seriously injured in a fall at Union College in Lincoln.

College spokesman Ryan Teller said the woman remained hospitalized late Thursday morning. He would not release her name. A posting on the university website says the woman fell Wednesday night while setting up a gymnastics apparatus for a practice of the Gymnaires team.

Lincoln Fire Battalion Chief Tim Linke says firefighters were sent to the college’s gymnasium just before 8 p.m. on a report that someone had fallen more than 30 feet. The university says the gymnasium has been closed and men’s and women’s basketball games scheduled for Thursday have been canceled.

Union College is a four-year college that’s owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
