ROSEVILLE, Mich. (AP) — Police say they’ve arrested a 24-year-old woman in the death of her newborn baby boy whose body was found in a suburban Detroit recycling center.
Roseville police Chief James P. Berlin announced the arrest Monday. He tells reporters that the woman had been pregnant and acquaintances were suspicious about her explanation for the absence of a baby.
Macomb County morgue employees have named the child Henry Alexander Macomb, after Macomb County’s namesake, Gen. Alexander Macomb. Business and community members are contributing a casket, headstone and cemetery plot.
Burial is planned at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
Berlin told MLive.com earlier Monday that detectives were headed to St. Clair County to talk to “specific people.”
Investigators say the baby found Jan. 14 in Roseville was 1 to 3 days old.
