WATERLOO, Neb. (AP) — At least three people have been rescued from flooding caused by an ice jam on the Platte River in western Douglas County, just west of Omaha.

Authorities say floodwaters began creeping up on the Two Rivers State Recreation Area about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday. The three people rescued had called for help when they became stranded in a pickup. No injuries have been reported.

Firefighters, sheriff’s deputies and an Omaha police helicopter helped with the rescue, and then officers began notifying nearby residents about the danger along the river. Some of them left for safety on higher ground.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for southwestern Douglas, eastern Saunders and western Sarpy counties that’s scheduled to expire at 11:45 a.m.
