NPCC Lady Knights Fall Short at McCook

npcc-knightsThe North Platte Community College Lady Knights went down in defeat to the McCook Community College Lady Indians 69-59 on Wednesday at the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center in McCook.

The Lady Knights jumped out to an early 12-9 lead with 14:51 to play in the first half.

McCook Lady Indian Chante Church started on a 3-point barrage, hitting five 3-pointers in the first half to give the Lady Indians a 29-24 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Lady Knights rallied to tie the score at 37 with 12:47 to play. With the score tied at 41 the Lady Indians went on a 15-4 run to lead 56-45.

The Lady Indians were able to maintain their lead and win by 10.

The Lady Knights were led in scoring by April Stull, who finished with 17 points. Stull was the only Lady Knight to score in double digits.  Aliyah Brown finished with 9 points and Zulema Viescas chipped in 8 points.

Church led the Lady Indians with 30 points.  The only other Lady Indian to score in double figures was Brooksie McWilliams with 12.  Kendra Baucom grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Lady Indians

The Lady Knights play Central Community College at home on Friday in a National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX Division II game.  The Lady Knights beat Central on their home court 74-58 earlier this year.

The game is designated as “Mentoring Night”.  All mentors and mentees will receive free admission and a bag of popcorn.
