WATERLOO, Ia. – Cale Morris stopped all 34 shots that came his way at Young Arena on Sunday afternoon and the Waterloo Black Hawks (15-21-4) defeated the Tri-City Storm (24-11-5) 3-0 to stop the team’s winning streak at 10 games.
Storm netminder Alec Dillon made 21 stops for his squad in defeat, while Tri-City outshot the Black Hawks 34-24 in the contest.
Waterloo scored a goal in each period, led by forward Henrik Rommel, who had power play goals in both the second and third frames.
Ronnie Hein had the goal for the Black Hawks in the opening period, as Waterloo got their first win of the season over Tri-City in the teams’ final meeting of the 2014-15 season.
The winning streak had matched the longest in team history, which was set back in the 2003-04 season.
Tri-City couldn’t manage anything on the power play, which had six opportunities in the game.
The Storm still have hold of second place in the USHL’s Western Conference with 53 total points. They remain four points behind first-place Sioux City.
Next weekend, Tri-City will host Omaha at the Viaero Event Center on Friday night, before heading to Sioux City to face the Musketeers on Saturday.Friday’s game gets underway at 7:30 p.m., while Saturday’s contest starts at 7:05.
