An Arizona man has been charged after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl, in North Platte.

At around 8:00 p.m., on February 6, an officer with the North Platte Police Department responded to a residence in the 2100 block of East D Street, on the report of a possible sexual assault.

A 17-year-old female alleged that 57-year-old Arlen Bohnas, a registered sex offender from Arizona, had fondled her breasts and made inappropriate sexual remarks towards her.

The victim said the assault had taken place the day before, but said she had to wait until Bohnas was gone before she reported it to police.

An investigator met with Bohnas and, following further investigation, determined that there was probable cause to arrest him and charge him with 3rd degree sexual assault and child abuse.

According to Officer Rodney Brown, the victim and her siblings, ages 12 and 7, were placed with family in Arizona.

Bohnas was jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
