Walthill Man Gets 3 Years for Punching Girlfriend

jailWALTHILL, Neb. (AP) — An eastern Nebraska man has been sentenced to more than 3 years in prison for punching his girlfriend in the head and face.

A jury found 52-year-old Terry L. Harlan of Walthill guilty of habitual domestic violence in November.

A U.S. attorney’s office says Harlan also was ordered Thursday to complete three years of supervised release once he serves his 41-month prison sentence.

Court documents state Harlan and his girlfriend were at his residence on the Omaha Indian Reservation on March 7. Harlan became angry with girlfriend, before pushing her into a closet and beating her. Harlan cornered his girlfriend by the door when she tried to leave, punching and kicking her several more times.

Authorities say the girlfriend escaped after Harlan fell asleep.
