LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A former Mad Dads volunteer has been sentenced to 1.5 years to three years in prison this week for prying open a locked office and stealing a new computer from the nonprofit organization.
50-year-old Kenneth Borene pleaded no contest to an attempted burglary. He was sentenced Tuesday in Lancaster County District Court.
Surveillance video caught him going into Mad Dads’ office about 3 a.m. Nov. 18, 2013, and leaving about 15 minutes later after prying open a locked office and taking a new computer worth about $1,300. Lincoln police tracked the computer back to a man who said he bought it from Borene for $200.
