LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A storm that dropped as much as 8 inches of rain in the Lincoln area and flooded Haymarket Park has left Nebraska looking for a place to play its Big Ten baseball series against Purdue.

Grounds crew pumped water into the parking lots Thursday, but officials say it’s doubtful the field will be playable this weekend.

The Cornhuskers and Boilermakers were scheduled to play single games Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Nebraska spokesman Jeremy Foote said coach Darin Erstad is trying to line up an alternate field. TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Werner Park in Papillion and even Missouri Western in St. Joseph have been contacted.

The series is crucial for Nebraska. The eighth-place Huskers need to finish the regular season in the top six to make the conference tournament.
