Matthew Charles White, 44, of Sutherland, NE, died in North Platte, NE, on May 12, 2015.
Matthew was born May 5, 1971, to Maurice White and Wilma Garrison in Denver, CO. He was raised by his grandparents, Charlie and Victoria White, in Crawford, NE and graduated from Crawford High School in 1990. While in high school, Matthew was involved in several sports and activities, and was a great football player. GO RAMS! GO HUSKERS! Matthew was awarded the Wellington Trophy and received a football scholarship to attend Fort Hayes State College in Kansas.
Matthew lived in Colorado for several years and worked for Bright Line, IMG and Capco. He later moved back to Nebraska where he lived in Sutherland and hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad where he worked as a Fireman/Oiler.
He is survived by his family which includes his six children, Cheyenne Storm, William Thunder, Gavin Cloud, Gracie Rain and twins, Jaxon Maurice and Zoie Sloane; brothers, Jason Mincks, of Muskogee, OK, and John Riddle, of San Francisco, CA; mother, Wilma Garrison, of Oklahoma City, OK; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and other family members.
Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Maurice White; grandparents, Charlie and Victoria White; and an aunt, Dolly Roaneagle.
Cremation was chosen. A Wake Service will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2015, at Christ Community Church in Crawford, NE. A Memorial Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at Christ Community Church in Crawford with Pastor Steve Mallery officiating. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com.
