OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska hospital that treated three people infected with Ebola last fall has been named one of nine centers for highly infectious diseases nationwide.
The Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha will work with the state Department of Health and Human Services to treat patients with highly infectious diseases when called upon.
University of Nebraska Medical Center Chancellor Jeffrey Gold says the designation shows the hospital is dedicated to fighting the deadliest diseases.
The hospital will receive $3.25 million in grants over the next five years as part of the designation.
