
Madison, WI. – Former Huskers Jordan Burroughs and James Green both earned spots on the U.S. World Team after placing first this weekend in the U.S. World Team Trials at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, WI.
Four-time All-American James Green wrestled at 70kg (154 lbs) this weekend. Green defeated 2006 NCAA National Champion Dustin Schlatter of Minnesota in two matches, winning by a 5-0 decision in the first match before notching a 4-2 victory in the second bout. Green finished his career at Nebraska with a third-place finish at the 2015 NCAA Championships and also led the team in technical falls with ten in his senior campaign.
Olympic Gold Medalist Jordan Burroughs (74kg/163 pounds) defeated four-time NCAA Champion Kyle Dake 6-3 in the first bout before a 14-4 win in the second match, making this his fifth consecutive World Team. Burroughs, a Sicklerville, N.J., native captured two national titles with the Huskers and helped guide NU to a ninth-place finish at the 2015 NCAA Championships in his first year as an assistant coach.
Colton McCrystal competed at 60kg in the Junior World Team Trials and was defeated in the third-place match by an 11-8 decision.
