NPCC Softball Lands Six Players on All-Nebraska Juco Softball Team

North Platte – Two North Platte Community College Knights Softball players were named to the All-Nebraska Junior College Softball team, while four others were named honorable mention. The team was compiled by the Omaha World-Herald, and is comprised of both National Junior College Athletic Association Division I and Division II colleges in the state of Nebraska.

The two players named to the team from North Platte are catcher Sara Villalobos and outfielder Brittney Odum. Jessica Jarvis, Shannon Lieber, Baileigh Oleson and Sara Runia were named honorable mention.

Villalobos, a freshman catcher from Skiatook, Okla. finished the season with a .424 batting average, seven home runs, nine doubles and 32 runs batted in. Villalobos was named the Region IX Division II Freshman of the Year. Villalobos was also named to the All-Region IX Division II team and the All-Region IX Division II tournament team this past season.

Odum, a sophomore from Aurora, Colo. batted .386. Odum tied for the team lead in home runs with 10, led the team with 41 runs batted in and had eight doubles. Odum was named to the All-Region IX Division II team this past season. She will continue her playing career at William Penn University in Iowa.

Jarvis, a freshman from Littleton, Colo. took over the lead-off spot after the injury to Audrie Conner and batted .291 for the season. Jarvis was named to the All-Region IX Division II tournament team.

Lieber, a sophomore from Lone Tree, Colo. batted .271 for the Knights, had eight home runs and eight doubles. Lieber also had a 9 – 12 record for the Knights with a 4.01 earned run average and 67 strike outs. Lieber was named to the All- Region IX Division II team and the All- Region IX Division II tournament team. She will continue her career at Colorado State University – Pueblo.

Oleson, a freshman for Gillette, WY was 8 – 12 on the season with a 3.46 earned run average and 71 strike outs. Oleson batted .353 with one home run. Oleson was named to the All- Region IX Division II team and the All- Region IX Division II tournament team.

Runia, a sophomore from Aurora, Colo. batted .377, tied Odum for the team lead with 10 home runs. Runia had eight doubles and 32 runs batted in. . Runia was named to the All- Region IX Division II team and the All- Region IX Division II tournament team. Runia will walk-on at Northern Colorado.

The Knights finished the season 19 – 29, but won the Region IX Division II championship.
