Rockies sign No. 3 overall pick Rodgers

colorado-rockiesDENVER (AP) — The Colorado Rockies have signed shortstop Brendan Rodgers, the team’s first-round pick in last week’s draft.

Rodgers was the third overall selection in the draft after a stellar prep career at Lake Mary High School in Florida. Rodgers hit .360 with eight home runs in 2015, his senior season.

Rodgers, along with Jonathan Gray in 2013, is the second-highest draft pick in team history. Right-handed pitcher Greg Reynolds was taken second overall in the 2006 draft.
