ELM CREEK, Neb. (AP) — Officials say people who fish at Sandy Channel State Recreation Area in Buffalo County soon will have better access at three of the area’s lakes.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission says Lake No. 8 will have a fishing pier installed for people with disabilities, and more than 500 feet of shoreline will be cleared of brush. Lake No. 2 will have a concrete boat ramp installed and 400 feet of shoreline development to improve conditions for anglers. Lake No. 4 also will have a concrete boat ramp installed, 500 feet of shoreline will be cleared of brush and walkways will be added.
The work should be finished by early fall. The recreation area will remain open during the project, but some spots may be temporarily closed because of construction.
