Moala Tautuaa, a former men’s basketball player at Chadron State College, has been crowned the 2015 Philippine Basketball Association Developmental League Foundation Cup Most Valuable Player. Tautuaa, a 6-foot-6 power forward who averaged 11 points per game and six boards for the Cebuona Lhuillier Gems, will enter the 2015 PBA rookie draft in August and is seen by scouts as the consensus top pick according to INQUIRER.net.
Tautuaa, a three-time Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Conference selection, had a fantastic career for the Eagles from 2008 to 2012. He scored 1,160 points in his career, tied for 17th in school history. He owns the career field goal percentage school record at 62.6%.
He began his professional career with the Westport Malaysia Dragons in the ASEAN basketball league in October of 2012. In 2014 he was the first overall draft pick in the PBA D-League draft to the Cagayan Rising Suns.
