YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — For the second time in three weeks, a bison has seriously injured a tourist in Yellowstone National Park.

Park officials say injuries to the 62-year-old Australian aren’t life-threatening though the bison tossed him several times into the air Tuesday morning.

The unidentified man was flown by helicopter for medical treatment.

Yellowstone officials say several people crowded the bison as it lay near a sidewalk not far from the famous Old Faithful Geyser. They say the bison charged after the man was taking photos from just a few feet away.

Bison can weigh as much as a small car and run three times faster than a person.

A bison in the Old Faithful area gored a 16-year-old girl from Taiwan as she posed for a picture near the animal May 16.

Brantley, Carrasco carry Indians to 2-1 victory over Royals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Michael Brantley drove in the go-ahead run with two outs in the eighth inning, backing a strong performance by Carlos Carrasco and sending the Cleveland Indians to a 2-1 victory over the slumping Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night.

Carrasco (7-4) allowed five hits over seven innings to win his third straight start. The big right-hander struck out eight while dominating Kansas City for the second time in a month.

Cody Allen handled a perfect ninth for his 12th save as the Indians won for the 11th time in 14 games. AL Central rival Kansas City lost for the sixth time in its last seven.

Wade Davis (2-1) was summoned in the eighth to keep the game tied, but he walked Michael Bourn to lead off the inning.

Guerrero’s slam helps Dodgers beat Rockies 9-8 to split DH

DENVER (AP) — Alex Guerrero hit a grand slam off reliever Rafael Betancourt with two outs in the top of the ninth, helping the Los Angeles Dodgers rally for a 9-8 win over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night and salvage a doubleheader split.

The Rockies beat the Dodgers 6-3 in the opener behind the pitching of Jorge De La Rosa. The game was a makeup of a rainout on May 9.

Guerrero sent a 1-2 fastball from Betancourt (2-2) to the deepest part of Coors Field, just eluding the glove of leaping center fielder Charlie Blackmon. The crowd waited to see if Blackmon had the baseball as he fell to the warning track. He didn’t.

It was Guerrero’s first career grand slam and fourth homer of the day for the Dodgers.

Nebraska Lawmaker, Treasurer to Lead Death Penalty Campaign

Sen. Beau McCoy

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A ballot campaign to preserve Nebraska’s death penalty will be led by an Omaha state lawmaker and the state treasurer.

Sen. Beau McCoy and State Treasurer Don Stenberg will serve as co-chairs of Nebraskans for the Death Penalty.

The group formed less than a week after lawmakers voted to override Gov. Pete Ricketts’ veto and abolish the death penalty, which hasn’t been carried out in Nebraska since 1997. Ricketts endorsed the campaign on Tuesday.

The group filed for a referendum Monday and expects to have petitions available as early as Friday. Organizers launched a website, www.NebraskansfortheDeathPenalty.com .

The repeal law goes into effect three months after the session ends. Supporters have until late August to submit enough signatures for a referendum, which would take place in November 2016.
