Fast paced action would be an understatement when describing the fierce IMCA competition that was spotlighted at Lincoln County Raceway in North Platte, Nebraska on Saturday evening. Dave Pederson, Jamey Kennicutt, Kyle Werkmeister, Jacob Olmstead and Erik Nelson all punched their tickets to the winners circle with feature wins.
Cashing in on his great starting spot on the grid, Dave Pederson of Brady led every lap of the IMCA Modified Feature to earn the victory. Dash for Cash victor Mike ‘The Magic Man’ Densberger of Lincoln, Nebraska made the pass for second place with two laps to go in the feature. Densberger charged to the podium with a stellar drive that resulted in second place that started in the second row of the starting grid. Finishing strong with a speedy final two laps, John Hansen of Ft. Morgan, Colorado was the show finisher in the feature event.
Grabbing the lead on the sixth lap and never looking back, Gothenburg’s Jamey Kennicutt claimed top honors in the IMCA Northern Sport Modified Feature. Kennicutt was elbows up and rallying for a frontrunner position in the early going before he took the lead on the sixth circuit and held off all challengers during the waning laps. Making his way through the pack of competitors, Gibbon’s Chad Dolan was able to wheel his hot rod to the runner-up finish after starting deep in the starting grid. At the drop of the green flag, Mike Saathoff of North Platte was among the frontrunners and he was able to stay among the leaders throughout the feature to earn a third place finish. Denny Egge of Kearney was the early leader after winning a heat race earlier in the evening. Along with Egge, Terry Dressel of North Platte and Valentine’s Gary Long were heat race victors.
Winning the feature was a test of perseverance for Maywood’s Kyle Werkmeister who led every lap during the IMCA Stock Cars showcase event. Werkmeister was involved in an incident on the waning laps, but it wasn’t enough to hamper Werkmeister’s winning efforts. Crossing the finish line in second place was North Platte’s very own Mikey Dancer. Dancer was able to avoid incidents during the final laps to earn the stellar finish. Jed Williams of Shickley, Nebraska finished the contest strong by gaining speed throughout the feature event to bring home third place honors.
Continuing his dream season, Jacob Olmstead of Overton grabbed the lead of the IMCA Hobby Stock Feature on the sixth lap and never trailed again to win yet another feature event. Having one of his best finishes of the 2015 season was Jacob Wolsleben of Lexington with a runner-up finish right behind Olmstead after winning an earlier in the evening heat race. Along with Wolsleben, third place finisher Brady Weinman of Arnold was a heat race victor as well.
Grabbing the lead early and cruising to the feature win in the IMCA Sport Compact division was Erik Nelson of Central City. Overcoming an adverse starting position, North Platte’s Andrew Baumgardner was a strong finisher to earn second place accolades. With his best run of the season at Lincoln County Raceway, Hunter Hoatson of North Platte was third place overall.
