HASTINGS, Neb. (AP) — Fire has destroyed the Asia Market in downtown Hastings.
The fire was reported around 3 a.m. Friday. No one was in the building at the time, and no one was injured.
Firefighters who arrived on the scene saw flames coming from the building’s windows and called for help from other departments.
Fire Chief Kent Gilbert says a firewall kept an adjacent business from receiving much fire damage.
A state fire marshal is investigating the origin and cause of the fire. Gilbert says it appears the fire started in the northwest corner of the building. He says it could be seven to 10 days before the investigation is complete and information is released to the public.
