NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) — Lincoln County Sheriff Jerome Kramer says a car that carried two teenagers into the rushing waters of the South Platte River has been recovered with two bodies inside.
Rescuers pulled the car from the river Tuesday morning after building a temporary road to allow an excavator to approach the car.
Kramer says dental records will be used to identify the bodies found in the car over the next few days.
Officials have said 17-year-old Alexis Wiezorek and 18-year-old Noah Ramos have been missing since May 18 when they drove into the river, which had washed out a road on the south side of North Platte.
The rushing waters of the river made it difficult for authorities to recover the car before this week, when the waters significantly receded.
LINCOLN – Two fishing tournaments are coming up in July for high school anglers – the Nebraska B.A.S.S. High School Team Championship on July 18 and the TBF-SAF Nebraska High School Fishing Tournament on July 25.
Participation is open to students who will be in grades 9-12 this fall and have a Nebraska fishing license. Each two-student team will supply its own adult coach/boat operator and boat.
Nebraska B.A.S.S. High School Team Championship – This tournament will be held July 18at Leigh Lake at Maple Creek Recreation Area near Leigh in Platte and Colfax counties. Each member of a two-person team must be a Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.) member. The entry fee of $25 per team is due by July 15. TBF-SAF Nebraska High School Fishing Tournament – This fifth annual event will be heldJuly 25 at Lewis and Clark Lake near Crofton in Knox County. Anglers must be members of The Bass Federation-Student Angler Federation. The entry/membership fee is $25 per angler. Takeoff and weigh-in will take place at Weigand Marina. The event starts at 7 a.m.and ends with the weigh-in at 1 p.m. The catch limit is five bass per team with a minimum length of 12 inches.
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A man has been charged with trying to have sex with a girl in exchange for trading cards and a DVD player.
25-year-old Joshua D. Vrana was charged Monday with attempted first-degree sexual assault of a child. He is being held at the Lancaster County jail on $100,000 bond.
Authorities say a Nebraska State Patrol investigator received a tip about an exchange on an online dating site in which a user claimed to have a 25-year-old friend who wanted to have sex with a 16-year-old’s younger sister. After identifying the user as Vrana, investigators contacted the suspect pretending to be the 16-year-old girl.
Authorities say they met July 1 at a public library, where Vrana was arrested.

Nebraska juniors and team captains Tommy Armstrong Jr. and Maliek Collins were named to watch lists for prestigious national awards on Tuesday.
Armstrong was among the players named to the watch list for the 79th annual Maxwell Award, given to America’s College Player of the Year since 1937. Collins was among the defensive players named to the watch list for the Bednarik Award, which has been presented to the College Defensive Player of the Year since 1995.
The 6-1, 220-pound Armstrong has engineered the Nebraska offense each of the past two seasons, compiling a 16-5 record as the Huskers’ starting quarterback. In 2014, Armstrong compiled 3,400 yards of total offense, the third-best single-season total in Nebraska history. Armstrong passed for 2,695 yards and 22 touchdowns, while rushing for 705 yards. The Cibolo, Texas, native set Nebraska sophomore records for passing yards, passing touchdowns and total offense in 2014.
Armstrong is one of 12 Big Ten players named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award.

Collins will man the interior of the Nebraska defensive front in 2015. Last season, the Kansas City native emerged as a dominant force at defensive tackle, leading the team with 14 tackles for loss, while adding 4.5 sacks. The 6-2, 300-pound Collins was at his best against the toughest foes, with 12 of his 14 tackles for loss coming in Big Ten Conference games or the bowl game against USC. Collins was named co-Defensive MVP for the Huskers in 2014, and was a second-team All-Big Ten pick.
Collins was among a group of 12 Big Ten defensive standouts on the watch list for the Bednarik Award.
Watch list announcements will continue throughout the next two weeks, with the watch lists for the Rimington Trophy (Center) and the Mackey Award (Tight End) unveiled on Wednesday.

NEW YORK (AP) — Rookie sluggers Kris Bryant and Joc Pederson have been picked for the All-Star Game, while Alex Rodriguez has been left out.
Major League Baseball announced the reserves and pitchers for the American League and National League on Monday. The game is July 14 in Cincinnati.
Angels slugger Albert Pujols will start for injured Detroit first baseman Miguel Cabrera. Pittsburgh outfielder Andrew McCutchen will start in place of Miami’s injured Giancarlo Stanton.
Bryant made the NL team at third base with the Chicago Cubs. Pederson plays center field for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Fans can vote through Friday for the final player on each roster. The five AL candidates are Boston shortstop Xander Bogaerts, Detroit outfielder Yoenis Cespedes, Minnesota second baseman Brian Dozier, Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner and Kansas City third baseman Mike Moustakas.
The five NL candidates are Cincinnati pitcher Johnny Cueto, Mets closer Jeurys Familia, Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw, St. Louis starter Carlos Martinez and Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki.
The Kansas City Royals added to their franchise record with six all-stars. DENVER (AP) — One practice in and Denver Nuggets point guard Emmanuel Mudiay is already talking titles.
An NBA Summer League crown, anyway. Got to love rookies.
New coach Michael Malone certainly does — especially this one. Mudiay, the seventh overall pick in the draft last month, already is forming quite a bond with his coach, who flat-out told Mudiay that this was his team.
This summer in Las Vegas, he meant, when the younger players on the Nuggets gain some experience. Who knows? Maybe that extends into the regular season as well. By taking Mudiay, the Nuggets created a log jam at point guard, which only increases the speculation that Ty Lawson may soon be moved.

Nebraska wide receiver De’Mornay Pierson-El was named to the Paul Hornung Award watch list announced Monday morning.
The Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse, is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football by the Louisville Sports Commission and football legend and Louisville native Paul Hornung.
As a freshman, Pierson-El ranked second nationally in punt returns, averaging 17.5 yards per return to garner second-team All-America honors. He led the country with 596 return yards and tied for the national lead with three punt returns for scores. He was a two-time Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week and won the Jet Award for the returner of the year.
In addition to his punt return exploits, Pierson-El caught 23 passes for 321 yards and four scores, culminating in an eight-catch, 102-yard performance in the Holiday Bowl against USC, setting a school bowl record for catches in a game. Pierson-El also threw a touchdown pass against Northwestern in 2014.
Pierson-El is one of seven Big Ten players in the initial 44-player watch list.
Former Husker I-back Ameer Abdullah was a finalist for the award in 2014.
CRETE, Neb. (AP) — Officials in the small Nebraska city of Crete have closed their 911 dispatch center and switched those services to nearby Beatrice.
Crete Police Chief Steve Hensel says all law enforcement and fire and rescue calls from the city have been switched to a regional 911 center at the Beatrice Police Department as of Monday morning. Remaining operations at the old location in Crete will end Wednesday afternoon.
City officials chose to consolidate to save money. Hensel says Crete will save $80,000 to $100,000 annually, mostly through personnel costs. Five dispatcher positions in Crete were eliminated.
Carp-O-Rama is a popular family-friendly event for anglers of all ages.
NORTH PLATTE — Carp-O-Rama is back in 2015 at Lake Maloney State Recreation Area (SRA) outlet area. This popular, family-friendly event will be held Saturday, July 11.
Anglers of all ages interested in learning all aspects of carp fishing are invited to attend this free event from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at the main boat ramp near the jetty. Carp caught by anglers will be used in demonstrations on cleaning, preparing and cooking the fish. The cooked fish then will be served as a free lunch.
Other activities include fish printing and Dutch oven cooking. Loaner fishing poles and bait will be available.
Carp is an excellent fish for beginning anglers to pursue because they are plentiful statewide, and the required equipment is relatively simple. The strong-fighting fish also is not restricted by bag, possession limits or size limits.
The area will be chummed with a corn mixture the day before the event to attract carp to the area. Canned, whole kernel corn and dough baits are good bait options for catching carp.
A park entry permit is required of all vehicles entering Lake Maloney SRA, located 4 miles south of North Platte. A fishing license is required of anglers age 16 and older. Both permits may be purchased at the park.
