Gerald Eugene “Gene” Hill

Gerald Eugene “Gene” Hill, age 91, of North Platte, passed away August 13, 2015 at Centennial Park Retirement Village.
He was born February 29, 1924 in North Platte to Clifford G. and Myrtle M. Weesner Hill. Gene attended school in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School in 1942. After graduation he entered the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He returned to North Platte and went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad. He moved to southern California where he worked for Boeing Aircraft as a machinist. Gene retired and moved back to North Platte to take care of his mother. He enjoyed karaoke and singing in piano bars.
Survivors include two brothers, Lyle (Marvia) Hill of North Platte, and Ronald (Trudy Thompson) Hill of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA; nieces and nephews, Marcia Hill, Bill Hill, Pete (Kay) Hill, Randy Hill and Larry (Dianna) Hill; special friends Gloria Adkins of Castle Rock, CO, and Mike and Mindee Mohr of North Platte.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister-in-law, Lois Hill.
A memorial has been established in his name and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell with full Military Honors. The Chaplain Norval Holtmeier will officiate.
Visitation will be noon until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
