A 19-year-old North Platte man is facing a felony charge after he allegedly threatened to shoot a North Platte man and his family, and two teenagers in July.

At around 1:50 p.m., on July 13, officers with the North Platte Police Department responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 1000 block of West 3rd Street.

Officers learned that multiple male subjects in a white Honda Accord had chased a vehicle to the residence.  It was reported that one of the subjects in the Accord, Matthew Taylor, had pointed a handgun at two teens, ages 15 and 16, which led to them fleeing to the home.

Once at the residence, Taylor allegedly confronted a 32-year-old man and told him that he was going to “shoot him and his family.”  Police say Taylor then made a movement toward his waistband that indicated he was retrieving a firearm.

Taylor and the other assailants then fled the area.

On August 17, at around 12:30 p.m., officers observed Taylor driving north on South Chestnut Street and conducted an investigative traffic stop near D and Chestnut Streets.

Officers made contact with Taylor and placed him under arrest.  He was transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center and jailed on charges of felony terroristic threats and 3rd-degree assault.

According to jail records, Taylor posted ten percent of $10,000 bond and was released.

Police say the handgun used in the alleged crime has not yet been recovered.
