SOUTHAMPTON, N.J. (AP) — One child is dead and three others are in critical condition after their wagon was struck by a vehicle in southern New Jersey.
Police say five siblings were pulling the wagon along Buddtown Road in Southampton when they were hit around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Four were injured.
A 3-year-old died and three others remain at Cooper hospital.
Paul O’Neill said he and his wife heard a loud boom and he found two children lying on the side of the street and a girl in the middle of the street.
Police say the driver stopped and it appears the motorist was driving the speed limit at the time of the accident. Police say the road lacks a real shoulder.
No names have been released.
