OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — U.S. Rep. Jeff Fortenberry of Nebraska has seen his own issues with mail delivery after forwarding along constituents’ complaints about slow service to the U.S. postmaster general.
Fortenberry said postcards inviting Bellevue constituents to a town hall meeting at noon on Aug. 3 were not delivered until the day of the event. The postcards had been delivered to the Omaha post office on July 28, but for unknown reasons, sat in the post office, unprocessed.
Rick Pivovar, manager of the Central Plains District for the U.S. Postal Service, apologized in a letter to Fortenberry for the delay, but did not give an explanation for the slow delivery. Fortenberry said he accepted the apology.
A regional U.S. Postal Service representative said the service would examine procedure to avoid such mistakes again.
