The North Platte Bulldogs jumped on top with a 5-minute opening drive resulting in a KiJana Owens one-yard touchdown run and never looked back in a 38-7 win over Columbus to open the season. Owens ran for three touchdowns on the night. Cole Joneson tossed a pair of touchdown passes to Brendan Folk and Marcos Reyes, and Kort Steele drilled a 33-yard field goal to complete the scoring for the Bulldogs.
