The North Platte Community College finished the McCook Invitational tournament 5-0, winning two matches on Saturday.  They defeated the Eastern Wyoming College Lady Lancer in three sets 27-25, 26-24, 25-20, and then defeated McCook Community College 25-23 ,25-18, 25-20. The Lady Knights won all 15 sets in the tournament on Friday and Saturday.

In the first match of the morning, the Lady Knights avenged a 3-2 loss to Eastern Wyoming College at the Subway Invite a week ago.  Valerie Most led the Lady Knights with 19 kills, while MaKenna Ketter added 12 kills.  Shelby Wolever had 16 set assists and Aryn Meisinger added 14.  Most also led the Lady Knights in digs with nine.

In the match against McCook, Ketter led the Lady Knights with 17 kills.  Most added 15 and Jessica Lovitt had nine kills.  Wolever had 19 set assists to lead the Lady Knights and Meisinger added 11.  Megan Chintala led the Lady Knights with 13 digs.  Most and Wolever added 10.

Lady Knights Coach Alexa Hopping said, “We showed lots of growth this weekend. We passed really well and that is always helpful. We made strides in the right direction and will go back to work on Monday to prepare for NJC (Northeastern Junior College).”

During the tournament the Lady Knights had a 1.86 passing average and a .260 kill efficiency.

The Lady Knights improve to 5-4 on the season.  They will face Northeastern Junior College on the road on Tuesday, September 1.  The Lady Knights return home to face Hastings College Junior Varsity on Wednesday September 2.

The Hastings game is slated as “Elementary Night” and “Camper Night”.  All elementary students wearing their school t-shirts and those who participated in the Lady Knights Junior Sports Camp wearing their camp t-shirts, will be admitted free into the match along with their families.
