LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The public address announcer for football games at Memorial Stadium has lost his job one day after Nebraska announced his hiring.

Former Omaha sportscaster Jon Schuetz said Tuesday that a university official told him he was being let go because of a months-old Facebook post by Schuetz commenting on the firing of football coach Bo Pelini. Schuetz said he deleted the post and declined to comment on what the post said.

Schuetz said the university made the right decision and that his dismissal is a lesson in social media etiquette.

Schuetz had replaced longtime announcer Patrick Combs. Nebraska cut ties with Combs last month after his arrest on suspicion of swindling hundreds of thousands of dollars from two elderly women.
