Kathleen Carsten, 73, of North Platte, went to be with her Lord August 31, 2015 at Great Plains Health. She was born Jan. 21, 1942 to James R. “Bud” and Maxine (Stewart) White at Sutherland. Kathleen graduated from Sutherland High School with the class of “60”. She then graduated from Nebraska Methodist School of Nursing, receiving her Registered Nursing degree. On September 26, 1964, she was united in marriage to Carroll Carsten at Sutherland. They lived in eastern Nebraska before moving to Hershey in 1968. She was employed at Memorial Hospital, American Red Cross for a number of years, then with Home Health and Hospice until her retirement in 2012. She was a member of Grace Community Bible Church, was an award winning quilter and enjoyed painting and gardening. She is survived by her husband, Carroll; son, Stewart (Barbi) Carsten both of Hershey; two sisters, Virginia Labrie of Fair Oaks, CA and twin sister, Jayne Hanich of Missoula, MT; grandchildren, Jessica (Hobie) Vogt of North Platte, Joshua Payne of Lincoln, Calvin Carsten of Torrington, WY and Collin Carsten of Hershey; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jayne Payne; and a son-in-law, Bob Payne. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. A Celebration of Kathleen’s Life will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Grace Community Bible Church with Pastor Mike Wing officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery near Sutherland. Kathleen’s casket will not be opened. Those wishing to sign her memorial book may do so from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
