A North Platte has been charged with a felony following an alleged assault on his wife.

According to North Platte Police, officers were called to a residence in the 3600 block of South Jeffers at around 5:40 p.m., on September 7.

Officers learned that a 33-year-old woman had been assaulted by 42-year-old Michael Kelsey.

The victim stated that following an argument, Kelsey pushed her down to the ground and began choking her with his hands.

Police say the victim was able to get up, at which time Kelsey head-butted her in the face and caused injury to her mouth.

The assault allegedly took place in front of three children ages 14, 9 and 4.

Kelsey was transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center and jailed on charges of felony strangulation, 3rd-degree domestic assault and child abuse.

According to online records, bond has not been set for Kelsey.
