The North Platte Community College Lady Knights volleyball team fell to the number nine rated Central Community College Lady Raiders in three sets: 25-18, 25-18 and 25-22.
The Lady Knights started out the first set on a positive note by jumping out to a 3-1 lead. That was short lived when the Lady Raiders went on a 11-2 run to lead 12-5. The Lady Knights played the rest of the set evenly and lost 25-18.
In the second set, the Lady Raiders led the entire set, jumping out to an early lead 12-6. The Lady Knights went on a 5-2 run to cut the deficit to three 14-11.
In the third set the Lady Raiders led 13-9, but the Lady Knights tied the score at 16. The third set went back and forth and was tied at 19 when the Lady Raiders went ahead for good to seal the match.
It was “Girl Scout” night. According to local Girl Scout leaders there were about 35 scouts and leaders in attendance. The Lady Knights treated the Girl Scouts to an autograph session following the game.
The Lady Knights drop to 7-10 on the season. They were led in kills by MaKenna Ketter and Valerie Most with six kills each. Josie Palmer added five. Jessica Lovitt had five assisted stuff blocks. Megan Chintala had 12 defensive digs and Shelby Wolever added 11 to lead the Lady Knights.
The Lady Raiders are now 11-6 on the season.
The Lady Knights have a week off before they travel to Beatrice to play Southeast Community College and then to Overland Park, Kans., to play in the Johnson County Community College Invite. This invite includes some of the top teams in NJCAA Division II volleyball, including the current number one team in the nation, Parkland College.
